2025 Faith Driven Adventure: Mt. Kilimanjaro!

In talking with some of my closest friends, it became clear — if we want my new book Faith Driven HR to stand out in today’s sea of new releases, we need to think way outside the box. We also want to remind the world that being a Christian is exciting — full of life, purpose, and adventure!

That’s when a name came up: Henry Kaestner.
Although he doesn't know me yet — he soon will!

When I floated this idea to my friends, they loved it. They know Henry can’t resist a good challenge. And with his busy schedule, it might be impossible — so this year, we’ll extend grace. If Henry can’t make it work, he can assign someone to take his place!

The Official Challenge

Hey Henry Kaestner — I officially challenge you to race to the top of Mt. Kilimanjaro! Let’s settle it on the mountain — Saturday, September 20th, 2025 — Tanzania.

Day 1: Start Point (2,300m) → Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,750m)

Trekking Time: 3 hours
Distance: 7 km
Elevation Gain: 450 meters

Day 2: Mti Mkubwa Camp → Shira Camp 1 (3,550m)

Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Distance: 10 km
Elevation Gain: 800 meters

Day 3: Shira Camp 1 → Shira Camp 2 (3,840m)

Trekking Time: 3–4 hours
Distance: 8 km
Elevation Gain: 290 meters

Day 4: Shira Camp 2 → Barranco Camp (3,950m) via Lava Tower

Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Distance: 11 km
Net Elevation Gain: 110 meters
(Includes ascent to Lava Tower for acclimatization)

Day 5: Barranco Camp → Barafu Camp (4,700m)

Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Distance: 9 km
Elevation Gain: 750 meters

Day 6: Summit Day Barafu Camp → Uhuru Peak (5,895m) (Midnight Start)

Trekking Time: 6–7 hours
Distance: 5 km
Elevation Gain: 1,195 meters

Descent: Uhuru Peak → Mweka Camp (3,100m)

Trekking Time: 5–6 hours
Distance: 9 km
Elevation Loss: 2,795 meters

Day 7: Mweka Camp → Mweka Gate (1,800m)

Trekking Time: 4–5 hours
Distance: 10 km
Elevation Loss: 1,300 meters

Why the Lemosho Route?

The Lemosho Route is one of the longest and most scenic paths to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro — making it ideal for this year’s Faith Driven Adventure!

Its extended itinerary provides excellent acclimatization, giving climbers a higher chance of successfully reaching the summit. Fewer crowds, varied terrain, and sweeping panoramic views make this route widely regarded as the most beautiful way to climb Kilimanjaro.

Journey Highlights

Starting from the west, the trail winds through lush rainforest
Crosses the vast Shira Plateau
Ascends through dramatic alpine desert landscapes
Joins the Machame Route for the final summit push to Uhuru Peak
Descends via the Mweka Route, offering a full experience of Kilimanjaro’s ecological zones
